1. Why this policy exists
Wize Data resells digital services, including virtual numbers, temporary email and eSIMs, that criminals try to misuse. We must know our customers well enough to protect them, our suppliers and the public, and to meet Nigerian law, including the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 (as amended) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. This policy is part of your agreement with us (see the Terms of Service).
2. Who must be verified, and how
We use levels of verification. We may change the levels and what they unlock at any time.
| Level | What we ask for | What it is for |
|---|
| Basic | Name, email, phone number, state, password and PIN | Opening an account and low-value purchases |
| Verified (KYC) | BVN and/or NIN, date of birth, as checked by our identity and payment partners | Wallet funding through assigned virtual accounts, higher limits, and, where we switch it on, buying virtual numbers, emails, rentals and eSIMs |
| Enhanced | Government ID, a recent photo or selfie, proof of address, and for businesses CAC registration and details of owners; evidence of source of funds if asked | Agents, Vendors, API and reseller accounts, high-volume or high-risk activity, or where our checks require it |
- Verification is done mainly through our identity-verification and payment partners. You must provide your own true details. Using another person's BVN, NIN or documents is a serious offence and grounds for immediate closure.
- We may apply account limits until you are verified, and we may refuse, delay or limit a service (including virtual numbers, emails, rentals and eSIMs) until you complete the level we require. When we require verification for these services, your app will tell you.
- We may re-verify you from time to time, and when your behaviour or our risk assessment changes.
- How we handle your verification data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
3. Ongoing monitoring
We monitor accounts and transactions for signs of fraud, money laundering and abuse. We look at patterns such as unusual volumes or speeds, repeated cancellations, many accounts from one device or network, funding from suspicious sources, use of services against banks, government sites or financial platforms, complaints from suppliers or third parties, and mismatches in identity details. We use a mix of automatic rules (such as rate limits and automatic blocks) and human review.
4. What is not allowed: zero tolerance
These are not allowed under any circumstances. They lead to immediate closure and, where appropriate, a report to the authorities.
- Fraud and scams: advance-fee and 419 schemes, romance and investment scams, fake sales, phishing, impersonation of people, businesses, banks or officials, and any use of a virtual number or email to deceive victims.
- Bypassing identity checks: opening or recovering accounts with false, stolen or another person's identity; bypassing KYC, age or security checks on any platform; SIM-swap or account-takeover activity; verifying accounts you are not entitled to.
- Financial platforms and government: using numbers, emails or eSIMs to register, verify or access bank, fintech, wallet, crypto-exchange, loan or investment accounts, or government and public-authority websites.
- Programme abuse: defrauding affiliate, referral, signup-bonus or promotional programmes; bulk, fake or duplicate accounts; vote, review or engagement manipulation; ban evasion.
- Harm to people: harassment, threats, stalking, extortion, sexual exploitation, child sexual abuse material, hate or incitement to violence, terrorism and its financing.
- Illegal trade: drugs, weapons, stolen data or goods, and money laundering, including funnelling money through our wallet.
- System abuse: attacks on the platform or our suppliers, exploiting errors, scraping, resale in breach of our terms, or using stolen cards or chargebacks.
- Evasion of sanctions or law: using our services where the law of Nigeria or of the country concerned forbids it.
This list is not complete. We decide in good faith whether conduct is abuse, and we do not have to prove it to a criminal standard before acting to protect others.
5. How we respond
| Step | What can happen |
|---|
| Warning | We tell you what is wrong and what to stop (minor or first-time issues) |
| Restriction | We block some services, lower limits, require verification, delay orders or add manual review |
| Suspension / freeze | We suspend the account and freeze Wallet, Cashback, Cash Referral and Airtime Earnings balances while we investigate |
| Closure | We close the account permanently and may refuse you in future |
| Recovery and reporting | We keep proceeds of wrongdoing and recover our losses; we report to the police, the EFCC, the NFIU and other authorities and share evidence; we may tell suppliers, payment partners and banks |
- We act without notice where there is serious risk. Where we can, we tell you the reason and how to respond.
- If, after investigation, funds are found to be lawful and not needed for a claim or an order, the remainder is returned to you subject to the law and any court or regulator order.
- We may be prohibited by law from telling you that we have reported your account or that a request about you exists ("tipping off"). We will not tell you in those cases.
6. Cooperation with law enforcement and regulators
- We cooperate with lawful requests, court orders and investigations by competent Nigerian authorities, including under the Cybercrimes Act, which requires service providers to keep certain traffic and subscriber information for a period and to disclose it to law enforcement when lawfully requested.
- We check that a request is genuine and lawful, disclose only what is necessary, and keep a record of it.
- The information we can disclose includes account and KYC details, wallet and order history, numbers, emails and eSIMs issued, messages and codes still held, IP addresses, device information and communications with us.
- We may also share information with other parties, such as suppliers, payment partners and banks, to prevent or investigate fraud, as our Privacy Policy explains.
- We preserve relevant data for an account under investigation, even after you ask us to delete it, as the law permits or requires.
7. Records we keep
We keep KYC, transaction, wallet and order records for at least five (5) years after the transaction or account closure, as Nigerian anti-money-laundering law requires, and longer where the law or a dispute requires. Message text and verification codes are erased sooner (see our Privacy Policy). We file reports of suspicious activity with the relevant authorities where the law requires.
8. How to report abuse
- Email support@wizedata.com.ng with the subject "Abuse report", or message us on WhatsApp 09065848571.
- Tell us who or what is involved (phone number, email address or order reference), what happened, when, and attach screenshots or messages.
- If you are a victim of a crime, also report it to the Nigeria Police Force or the EFCC. We will help the authorities with lawful requests.
- Knowingly false reports made to harm someone are themselves a breach of our terms.
9. Appeals
If you think we restricted or closed your account by mistake, email support@wizedata.com.ng within 14 days with your phone number, what happened and any evidence. We will review it and reply within a reasonable time. We may ask you to verify yourself again. A decision after review is final, without limiting your legal rights.
10. Your responsibilities
- Keep your details accurate and your login, PIN and API key secret.
- Use the services lawfully and only for your own genuine purposes.
- If you are an Agent, Vendor or API user, you are responsible for what your own customers do and must pass these rules on to them (see the Reseller & API Terms).
- Tell us at once if you suspect misuse of your account.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy. The version at the top of the page is in force. Contact: support@wizedata.com.ng, WhatsApp / phone 09065848571.
